The main character Mel came to a quiet town in order to heal spiritual wounds and meet a new love.
For some time, Melinda Monroe lived in Los Angeles and worked as a nurse in a prestigious clinic. She had a great job, a nice apartment, and a talented boyfriend. After a painful break with a gifted doctor, she had to urgently leave the metropolis. She could not calmly look at the ex-lover, so she chose to run away from the city. An attractive person came across a tempting advertisement that there was a vacancy for a medical worker in a glorious village called Virgin River. Without hesitation, she packed her suitcase and set off.
What was Mel's surprise when, instead of a comfortable town, she saw a provincial settlement in which it is almost impossible to live. Her first impulse was to drop everything and return home. But an accidental acquaintance with a kind-hearted and sympathetic guy named Jack confuses all the cards. The charming woman talked to the friendly owner of the local eatery and listened to his words. A former Marine suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder advised her to give the inconspicuous place a chance. She stayed, and did not regret it at all.
