Reluctantly returning to her hometown for tourists, Roswell, New Mexico, the daughter of immigrants, discovers the truth about her former love: he is an alien, and has hidden his unearthly power all his life. She hides his secret as they reunite and begin to investigate his lineage and origins, but when long-standing government coverings point to a larger alien presence on Earth, a politics of fear and hate threatens to expose him and undo the emerging romance between them.
