The Office (1-9 seasons)
Michael calls Jim into his office and talks about his quarterly progress. Jim is doing well, but he hasn't closed one particular deal yet. Michael uses this opportunity to call the client and close the sale. By doing so, he shows Jim "how it's done". However, Michael takes the interlocutor for a man, although in fact he was talking to a woman. It immediately becomes clear that the show is being filmed by a film crew. Documentary filmmakers want to show what life is like in the modern workplace. Michael leads the film crew around the office, shows us the layout and introduces the staff. The camera then cuts to Dwight. He is getting ready for the day. He unlocks his desk, pulls out a telephone receiver from one of the drawers, and plugs it into the base station...humming as he does so. Jen arrives to talk to Michael about downsizing. The corporation must decide whether they are closing the Scranton branch (Michael's branch) or the Stanford branch. During a meeting with Jen, Todd Packer calls. Michael foolishly puts him on speakerphone. Todd makes some rather rude remarks about Ian. Michael hangs up. No one in the office is supposed to know about the downsizing, but everyone does, and employees start updating their resumes and making plans for the future.
