Home Team, a Netflix film, is an inspirational comedy biopic about Sean Payton, the coach of the NFL's New Orleans Saints football team. In the film, Kevin James appears in an unusually sincere role, and Tait Blum plays his son. Although both of them complement each other, there are comedic elements in the film, but they never become comedy spearheads, staying true to the characters in real life and keeping their stories intact. As of 2022, the NFL (National Football League) is the most prestigious football league in America. Players are recruited at a very young age and undergo rigorous training from their teenage years, receiving generous athletic scholarships, to eventually become major league players, which is considered a huge event in the US. Unlike major league basketball, American football is the only sport where the ball is almost egg-shaped and is passed or tossed from hand to hand. We know that celebrity quarterbacks are in charge of keeping score, thus helping teams earn points. Strategy is the key to victory. But some teams resort to dastardly behavior that is eventually exposed and the federation hits them hard. In 2012, Sean Payton was accused of such despicable behavior when it was revealed that some of his team's players were paid to physically impact other players, injuring them and preventing them from continuing to play in order to earn points for the Saints and take the lead in NFL. Whether he was guilty or not is unknown, but this biopic focuses on the relationship he had with his son during his suspension.
