The storyline tells the real story of a team made up of players from an orphanage in Fort Worth, Texas. Having no funds at the beginning of the season, the team made it to the state championship. Their inspiring rise was made possible in large part by the visionary Rusty Russell, a respected high school coach who quit his humble job to teach football at a dysfunctional orphanage. He invented many moves that have since become the standard in today's football.
